Genesis 14:5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

Last week we observed that the Scripture identified the Zuzims, Emims, and Horites to be giants.  Though we may deduce by their association with these peoples that the Rephaims were also giants; we postponed that observation to this study.  It is interesting to note that this is the first time the word “Rephaims” is found in the Scripture; and yet, to the reader in that day, there was no question as to their identity; and they were understandably connected with the Zuzims, Emins and Horites.

The names of these tribes have interesting meanings. 

Zuzims – Wild beasts, roving creatures

Emims - Terrors

Anakim - The long necked ones (descendants of Anak)

Horims - Cave dwellers (name was derived from the fact they lived/hid in the caves of Mt. Seir)

In Deuteronomy 2:4-12, Moses was instructed by IAUE not to meddle with the children of Esau in Mt. Seir, nor with the Moabites in the land of Ar, as the children of Israel journeyed to the promised land; because they had each destroyed the giants (the Emims and the Horites) out of their lands.

So, who were the Rephaims?

Rephaim is one of the ways the Hebrew word “rapha” is translated.  It is also the primary word translated “giants” throughout the Old Testament.  If a person or people was referred to as a giant, they were “rapha” or Rephaim.  Put another way, ALL of the descendants of the Nephalim, were Rephaim. 

Deuteronomy 2:10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

11 Which also were accounted giants (Rephaim), as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

When the fallen angels mated with human women, they produced the Nephilim.  They were the first race of giants, the first hybrids.  They were also the tallest and mightiest.  The Nephilim also mated and produced hybrid offspring; but they were not as tall.  Each succeeding generation seemed to be less tall than the prior generation as the Nephilim DNA was diluted with each hybrid mating with humans.  The Nephilim were as tall as 400-450 feet. They were known as the Titans in Greek legend; and their offspring were at least 30-40 feet tall. By the time we get post-flood, we see specific giants being identified as being between 12-16 feet tall; though Amos refers to some of them being as tall as cedar trees (30-35 feet tall).

Amos 2: 9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

According to the book of Enoch, Michael, the archangel, was sent by IAUE to stir up a battle among the Nephilim; and to force the Watchers to witness their own children killing each other until they were all dead.  The Watchers then were imprisoned in chains of darkness.  Peter tells us in 2 Peter 2:4, that they were imprisoned in Tarturus to await their coming judgment.

Enoch 10:11 And IAUE said unto Michael: 'Go, bind Semjâzâ and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness.
12 And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever is consummated. 

The Nephilim killed each other to the last man; but their offspring did not kill each other.  They were permitted by IAUE to live for 500 years up to the flood of Noah. The flood killed all of the terrestrial and aviary offspring of the Nephilim; but it did not kill their water-borne descendants. (I know that sounds bizarre, but the Nephilim were masters of genetic manipulation and produced chimera-like offspring with all manner of animals, even fish.)

According to Numbers 13:33, all of the post-flood giant races were identified as being of the Nephilim.  Last week we recognized that there were various schools of thought on how these giants reappeared after the flood.  We concluded that the “how” of it did not ultimately matter.  They reappeared regardless of our being able to understand how they did.  One of the ways, however, that this was possible is revealed in this term for them, the Rephaim.

Literally, “rapha” means “to invigorate.”  The root word, “rafa,” means “to heal.” It is translated “giants” and also…”the dead.”  This yields a most interesting understanding about the post-flood giants.  Enoch tells us that the spirits of the giants that were destroyed by the flood became the restless spirits of wickedness we refer to today as demons.  In the post-flood era, they were able to “reanimate,” then continue to procreate. This is the unique meaning of “to invigorate” and “to heal” behind the term “Rephaim.”  This is where the legend of zombies originated.  They were quite literally, “the living dead.”  

Job 26:5 Dead things (the Rephaim) are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

The Septuagint (Greek Old Testament) reads: “Are not the giants formed from under the waters, and their neighbors?” 

The Chaldeean version reads: “Can the trembling giants be regenerated, when they and their hosts are under the water?” 

It is obvious from the Scriptures that the Rephaim procreated predominantly with the bloodline of Canaan, the cursed son of Ham. Virtually all of the giant races were Canaanite in origin during the time of Abraham, Moses, Joshua and through the reign of David and beyond.

When it came time for Abraham’s son Isaac to marry, Abraham forbade him to marry a Canaanite.

Genesis 24:2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

3 And I will make thee swear by IAUE, the Elohim of heaven, and the Elohim of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

When it came time for Isaac’s son Jacob to marry, Isaac forbade him to marry a Canaanite.

Genesis 28:1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

2 Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughers of Laban thy mother's brother.

What did Esau, Jacob’s brother, do?

Genesis 28: 8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

If that was not clear enough, the account is clarified a few chapters later.

Genesis 36:1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.

When it came time for Joshua to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land; they were instructed to destroy every man, woman, child and beast.  They annihilated 31 nations of giants in the land; but they did not obey the word of IAUE.  They covenanted with one race of giants; and they failed to destroy others.

Joshua 11:2  There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

These three cities, Gaza, Gath and Ashdod, became three of the capitol cities of the Philistines, the one nation that remained a constant thorn in the flesh and prick in the eyes of Israel, even to this very day.  The Hebrew word translated “Philistine” is “Pelishtiy” from which we get the word, “Palestine” and “Palestinian.”  It (Gath) was also home to the most well-known giant in the Scriptures, Goliath, whom David killed.

2 Samuel 21:15-22 tells the story of the four giant (Rephaim) sons of the giant (Rephaim) (Goliath), being killed by individual warriors of Israel. 

The Rephaim still exist, today.  Their bloodlines have been protected throughout the generations of man.  Messiah spoke of this during his earthly ministry.  We will pick up there, next week.

Genesis 6:4 There were giants (Nephilim) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of Elohim came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Last week we introduced the subject of the Nephilim, the offspring of fallen watcher angels and the daughters of men. This intrusion into the natural order of things on earth was designed, ultimately, to destroy the bloodline of Adam as their hybrid DNA was infiltrating all flesh both of man and animal.  This period of time, 500 years prior to the flood, according to the book of Enoch, is of great significance to us today; because the conditions that surrounded Noah’s day, which marked the culmination of the wickedness and corruption of the Nephilim and their offspring is referred to by Yahushua as a sign of the time just preceding his return to take the throne of David.

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

A casual reader of this passage would think that Messiah is talking about the people of Noah’s day as an indicator of the behavior of the human society of that day.  People, in general, in ANY day of human history eat and drink and marry wives.  What was it about the way it was done in Noah’s day that marks the conditions that will exist on the earth in the day Messiah returns?  The difference is in the word “THEY.”  He is not referring to man.  He is referring to the Nephilim and their offspring.  THEY were eating and drinking and giving in marriage.  That is NOT consistent with the nature of angels; and their hybrid offspring were not humans.  They were not made in the image and after the likeness of IAUE. That is what was extraordinary about that time.

The flood of Noah was the quick remedy; but it did not completely eradicate the infestation. On the “other” side of the flood (“and also after that”), we see the proliferation of giants, particularly among the descendants of Noah’s son Ham through the bloodline of Ham’s son Canaan; so much so that the term “Canaanite” became synonymous with the term giant.

Number 13: 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33  And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Ten of the twelve spies were convinced that the land of Canaan was unconquerable because not only were all the inhabitants giants, they were carnivores, eating the human inhabitants of the land.  These spies gave no consideration to the many giants the children of Israel destroyed during their 40 years in the wilderness.

There has been much discussion and disagreement over how giants reappeared after the flood.  Some talk of a second incursion of fallen angels.  Some refer to the books of Enoch and Jasher that speak of some of the offspring of the Nephalim surviving the flood.  Some believe the obvious explanation would be that Ham’s wife was a carrier of Nephalim DNA; and still others discuss that the flood of Noah did not cover the entire earth; but all the earth that was the focus of the civilization around Noah.  There may be more merit to some of these ideas than others; but the bottom line is, the answer does not really matter.  The giants reappeared and they continued to do what their ancestors did in corrupting all flesh.  HOW they got there is not nearly as important as THAT they got there; and understanding that they were not “human” explains why the standing order to Joshua was to kill every man, woman, child and beast throughout the land.  They were to make no covenant with them, and they were not to take their women as wives.  There could be nothing to remain either of the Nephalim DNA or of their genetic manipulation of their animals.

Messiah did not stop with the days of Noah as an indicator of the conditions of the world at the time of his return.  He also included one other time.

Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Notice the term “likewise.”  In other words, the time of the days of Lot were similar to the time of the days of Noah.  “THEY” ate and drank and bought and sold, planted and builded.  Mankind has always done that.  What was different about this in the days of Lot?  Everyone is aware of the homosexual nature of the population of Sodom and Gomorrha. Jude says in verse 7 of his letter that they were “…giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh…”

The word used for “fornication” in this verse is “exporneuo” which means “to go whoring with a lust that gluts itself on sexual pleasure.”  It is the word from which we get the word pornography.

The word for “strange” flesh is “heteros” which means “another,” or “the other” as in flesh that is not of the same sex or of the same species; i.e., homosexuality or bestiality.

Now, we already know these things about Sodom and Gomorrah; but there was something else about these cities in the days of Lot that most people do not know. 

Genesis 14:1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations,

2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.

Who were the Zuzims and the Emims and the Horites?

Deuteronomy 2:20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims (another name for the Zuzims);

21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

Deuteronomy 2:10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

We already know that the Amalekites and Amorites were giants.  That just leaves the Rephaims.  We will discuss the Rephaims in our next post.  Suffice it to say they were giants as well.  Thus we see that all around the possession of Lot, giants abounded; and THEY were rabidly lustful for all manner of sexual expression; which certainly would account for the reputation of Sodom and Gomorrah.

These were the signs of the times that Messiah said would precede his return.  It would not be mere men and women eating and drinking and going about their daily business affairs.  No, it would be an horrific scene of carnivorous giants lusting after the daughters of men, of rampant sodomites violating all resistance to their sexual cravings, of cross-breeding men with animals, of pornography abounding in such a way that it alters the normal appetites of man. 

Giants are returning to the face of the earth.  It is guaranteed by Messiah.  They are not going to be benevolent, though they will initially be presented to us that they are.  What we must understand is that their ultimate objective is to destroy the seed of the woman.  This has always been, and always will be a war of two seeds.

 Genesis 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

                                                                        * * * * *

 In our last post, we identified “THE” woman’s seed that fulfilled this prophetic curse. That seed is Yahushua Messiah.  We also saw the bruising/crushing of his heel and the prophetic imagery of him crushing the head of the serpent’s seed (the skull of Goliath under the foot of the stake on Golgotha, where the seed of the woman was impaled). 

Today, I would like to examine why it is that Goliath is representative of the seed of the serpent.

Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For Elohim, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

In this verse, Eve is referring to a new son through which the bloodline of Adam could descend unto the fulfilment of the promise that her seed would crush the head of the serpent’s seed.  There is no explanation in the Scriptures why Cain was excluded from being that bloodline; though there exist many ideas postulated by people through the ages.  The two simplest explanations would be that the mark he received from IAUE after he killed his brother excluded him (Genesis 4:15).  Another would be demonstrated repeatedly throughout the Scripture.  He simply was not the one who was chosen.

Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of Elohim hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of Elohim: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.

10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of Elohim according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

There are other theories about Cain; but we will not entertain them at this point.

Nearly 2,500 years passed from the creation of Adam and Eve to the place where we pick up the story, today.

Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Who were these “sons of Elohim?”  The use of this term in the Old Testament always referred to angels. It is used three times in the Book of Job to refer to the angels as the sons of Elohim presenting themselves before Elohim.  Throughout Jewish history, the Septuagint, virtually all of the religions throughout the world and even historical records, these “sons of Elohim” were known to be angels.  It was not until the 5^th century AD, that the theory that the sons of Elohim represented the bloodline of Seth was promoted and popularized.  This was done, apparently, because the truth had become an embarrassment to the church in Rome. 

So, here we see angels mating with the daughters of men.

3 And IAUE said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of Elohim came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

To the early Hebrew reader of the Torah, they would have read that there were “Nephiyl” (or “Nephilim” – the fallen/cast off) in the earth in those days.  This is the first time the word is used in Scripture and is found only in one other place (Numbers 13:33); but it provides no explanation for the term. It is simply understood that the reader would know who the Nephilim were. The word had to have been known from other sources; whether that would be in the stories passed down from generation to generation; or in historical documents.  The word “nephiyl” does not mean giants; but it was known that they WERE giants.  The word used in the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Tanak, the Old Testament) is “gigantes” (giants) which makes it quite obvious that the Hebrews knew the Nephilim were giants.

Twice the Tanak (Old Testament) makes reference to “the book of Jasher” as a viable historical record. The New Testament book of Jude quotes verbatim a prophecy from the book of Enoch.  Regardless whether either of these should be regarded as Scripture, the Scripture itself regards them as having historical value. (For centuries, the Book of Enoch was honored as Scripture, and is still today contained in the “Apocrypha” as Scripture in various translations of the Old Testament.) In the same way we study history books in school and we “believe” what they tell us happened in our past, the books of Jasher and Enoch provide us significant insight as history books into this time period we find described in Genesis 6. They provide the historical record that the offspring of these fallen angels were called the Nephilim.

The Book of Jasher describes 200 “Watcher” angels whose job it was, apparently, to watch the events of man unfold upon the earth.  They conspired to take wives of the daughters of men.  They knew that their action would be regarded as a grievous sin in the eyes of IAUE; but they compacted amongst themselves under a curse that all of them would agree to do so.  The names of their leaders are given in the book of Jasher.  Both Jude and the apostle Peter comment on their action recorded here in Genesis 6.

Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

2 Peter 2:4 For if Elohim spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

The Watchers “kept not their first estate.” That is to say, they forsook their spiritual bodies (their “habitation”) to assume physical bodies in order to mate with the daughters of men. This was compared with the sin of Sodom and Gomorrha, “going after strange flesh,” both by Peter and by Jude. 

The Nephilim were referred to as the “mighty men of old.”  Jasher says they were as tall as “300 ells.”  An ell was another word for “cubit,” which would put them around 450 feet tall (one and a half football fields tall, to provide a means of comparison). The Greeks referred to them as the Titans.  Yes, they were actually real.  (In fact, I have been informed that what the rest of the world refers to as Greek mythology, is taught in Greece as their history.) The Nephilim also mated and produced giant offspring; but they were considerably less tall than their parents. 

Jasher and Enoch record that it was not enough for the fallen angels to have corrupted themselves and to produce a hybrid race among the lineage of Adam; but they taught their offspring forbidden knowledge and technologies.  Along with that, it was also not enough that they corrupted mankind, they mated with animals and experimented genetically with all forms of “flesh” of both man and animals.  They gave birth to chimeras (human/animal hybrids) as well as animal/animal hybrids, until all flesh had been corrupted. 

There were two really severe problems with this mixing of DNA.

Genesis 6:5 And Elohim saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

The hybrid offspring of the fallen angels (the Nephilim) and the offspring of the Nephilim, and the cross-breed hybrids of man and animals were no longer made in the image and after the likeness of IAUE.  The animals of every kind were no longer able to reproduce after their kind as IAUE had made them.  In addition, the resulting offspring were wild and naturally wicked.

Genesis 6:6 And it repented IAUE that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And IAUE said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the IAUE.

9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with Elohim.

If IAUE did not act quickly, all of the human race which was made in His image would be gone from the earth; and the rise of the seed of the woman would be a physical impossibility. When the Scripture says that Noah was “perfect in his generations,” it means his bloodline had not been contaminated with hybrid DNA.  His generations were not corrupted.  He would be the one through whom the seed of the woman still could come.  The serpent’s plan to eradicate the bloodline of Seth, though coming very close to success, would fail.

Genesis 6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 The earth also was corrupt before Elohim, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And Elohim looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And Elohim said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Noah lived in a day when hybrids roamed the earth; and the thoughts and actions of man were only evil, constantly.  IAUE would preserve “the seed” by destroying all flesh upon the earth by flood.  This was the singular purpose of the flood---to eradicate the hybrid bloodlines in order to preserve the bloodline that would bring to earth the promised Messiah. That did not stop the serpent's attack on the bloodline, however.  Nearly 900 years later, we see this recorded.

Number 13:33  And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Genesis 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Last week we briefly examined “enmity” and found it to mean “to hate as an enemy; to be of a hostile mindset.” In other words it means, “to consider each other to be combatants at war.”  Let’s begin today’s post by looking more closely at a couple of other words in this verse. 

Seed (zehrah) – Literally, this word means “sowing” but refers to that which produces life after its own kind. It is used of the seed found in fruit, of wheat, of animals, and of people. It refers to one’s offspring (singular); or can refer to descendants (plural).

Bruise (shuwph) – This word means “to bruise, to crush, to lie in wait for, to strike at, to fall upon.”  It is suggestive of a fatal blow.

I think it is important to note that this was the curse pronounced over the serpent.  It involved Eve; but Eve had her own curse pronounced upon her.  This was not Eve’s curse.  In that it is a curse, this pretty much means that the Serpent is not going to benefit from it.  He is not going to be the winner of the implied combat.

If I told you that your offspring was going to crush the heal of my offspring; but my offspring was going to crush the head of your offspring; what do you suppose might be the first thing you would do?  You might work to terminate my bloodline as quickly as possible.

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

This may have seemed like a successful preventative measure; but then this followed.

Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For Elohim, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

So, the war was going to continue.  The serpent (the dragon, the devil, Satan) must continue to work toward the demise of the woman’s seed.  The seed of the woman, from the very moment that Elohim decreed the curse upon the serpent in the Garden, became the number one target of the serpent.  Despite his wisdom and cunning, Satan had no clue who it would be that would destroy his own seed. He only knew it would be one who descended from the woman’s bloodline; so that would be his objective---kill or destroy the bloodline.

Throughout the text of Scripture we see repeated efforts of the enemy to wipe out the descendants of the woman with the intended result being to cut off the lineage that would produce “THE” seed.  We will examine that more closely, later.  Right now, I want to “reverse engineer” this seed of the serpent to help us identify with some clarity just who this enemy is.

We have the benefit of 6,000 years of human history to be able to look backward and identify the seed of the woman. The prophet Isaiah was the one who made it possible for us to understand how it would be the seed of the “woman” (which is a physical impossibility).

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Master himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The offspring of a virgin could not be attributed to the seed of man; hence he would be the seed of the woman; and it would not be just an extraordinary child; but he would be the son of IAUE.

Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with Elohim.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Yahushua.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and IAUE Elohim shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Nothing could be clearer to the devil than such a pronouncement; so what was the first thing he did?

Matthew 2:1 Now when Yahushua was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

16 Then Herod…was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

Now that the woman’s seed is identified, it is possible to zero in on the time when his heel might have been crushed.  When Yahushua was impaled, the Romans nailed him to the tree.  According to research of the times, the Romans would have fastened his hands together above his head; and they would have nailed his feet to the tree by running a nail through each heel into the sides of the tree so it would appear he was straddling the tree with his feet.

If this is the time when the seed of the woman had his heals crushed by the seed of the serpent, where is the serpent’s seed?  To answer this question, we must go back to the time of David.

1 Samuel 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of IAUE of hosts, the Elohim of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46 This day will IAUE deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is an Elohim in Israel.

47 And all this assembly shall know that IAUE saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the IAUE’s, and he will give you into our hands.

48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.

53 And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.

54 And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent.

David carried the huge head of the Philistine nearly 20 miles back to Jerusalem.  After being taken before King Saul where David brought the head of Israel’s enemy to show the King, tradition says David buried the head on a nearby hill.  The name of that hill became known as “the place of the skull.”  In Latin, it was called “Calvary,” but in the Hebrew, it was known as
“Golgotha.”

John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

That Philistine’s name was Goliath.

1 Samuel 17:4  And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

Goliath was a giant, nearly 10 feet tall.  He was not human.  His bloodline and his DNA was not descended from Adam. He was a descendant of the serpent; and he was the champion of Israel’s enemy.  At the impaling of Yahushua, his heels were crushed as his feet stood upon the head of the serpent’s seed.  The sacrifice of Yahushua crushed the power of Satan.

Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of Elohim in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which Elohim ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Master of glory.

“THE” seed of the woman has made his appearance.  “THE” seed of the serpent is yet to come.  The scene at Golgotha was a prophetic preview that reveals the nature of the descendents of the serpent and the manifestation of the victory that is yet to be demonstrated.
