THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – XIII

2 Corinthians 5:14  For the love of Messiah constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

If we have been taking on the challenge in this blog to give thanks unto IAUE in everything, and to rejoice all the time, and to pray unceasingly, we have experienced to some measure the release of the spirit.  Some treasure has leaked out; and we have experienced the joy that inescapably corresponds with our participation and union with the life and light and power of IAUE that was released.  This is but the proverbial tip of the iceberg of the treasure that is in us.

There is a story told that reportedly actually occurred during the Civil War in the United States. The battle between the Union Army and the Confederate Army weighed heavily upon the lives of young men in both the North and the South.  The Union Army sent men throughout the northern States to find new recruits to serve.  They came upon a farming family in Virginia that had two sons. (We will call the older son, Ben, and the younger son, Jack.)  Ben was of age to serve in the army; so he was given notice to report for duty.  The family farm, however, needed Ben to stay and work to keep the farm going and to sustain the family.  Jack was not old enough to serve in the Army; but he also was not as able and strong as Ben to take his place and do the work required of the farm; so Jack volunteered to report for duty in Ben’s place.

After a season, a member of the Union Army came to the family farm with notice that their son had died in battle.  Not long afterwards, there was another search for men of age to serve in the Union Army.  They found Ben and told him that he needed to report for duty.  Ben told the soldiers that he could not serve because he had already served and had died in battle.  Of course, the soldiers thought him crazy; but he insisted they search their records.  Sure enough they had record of Ben having reported for duty, of having served, and of having died in battle.  Ben was dead.  The soldiers left him to remain with his family.

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Messiah: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Messiah liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of Elohim, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 6:2 …How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahushua Messiah were baptized into his death?

Christians carelessly toss around such Scripture verses as popular slogans.  They receive the requisite cheers of “Amen!” and “Yes!” but the meaning of these verses does not actually register with them.  This is why no one suspects that there is a treasure inside of them that can only be explained in terms of IAUE.  They have yet to comprehend that, legally, they are dead.

Man is born separated from IAUE.  There is a law of sin already working within his/her members at birth.  Man knows how to do evil without any instruction.  Exalting self and making everything about “me” is instinctive to man.  Add to that the ravages of sin that come to a person’s life as a consequence of sin:  sickness, disease, broken relationships, anger, malice, wickedness, envy, jealousy, pride, humiliation. Add to that the destructive devices of Satan who comes only to steal, kill and destroy.  Finally, add the inevitable judgment before the throne of IAUE, Creator of Heaven and Earth, from which there is no escape; for the soul that sins (disobeys the will of IAUE) shall surely die.  Now, imagine you have a “Jack” who says, I will go in your place to that field of battle and be subjected to all the things that you have to suffer and encounter in life; and I will go to the judgment seat and stand before IAUE in your place.  Whatever you have coming to you, I will take it in your name…and so Yahushua did; and he was tempted in all manner just like we are, yet without sin; and he was whipped and beaten and impaled in the most humiliating and excruciating of deaths; and the wrath of IAUE was poured out upon him without any leniency.  There was no letting up by IAUE.  He exacted the full penalty of man’s sin upon his own son as though he were the vilest and guiltiest of mankind.  Why did IAUE do this?  It was because Yahushua was not there in his own name.  He was there in your name…just as Jack died on the battle field in the name of Ben.

Picture that Virginia farmland in your mind.  Imagine that entire community of farming families in that area each having their own dilemma of having a son called up to war; and in every situation someone reported for duty in their sons’ names.  This is exactly what Yahushua did for all of mankind.  Upon the tree, suffering and bleeding to death, he bore the name of every man, woman and child of mankind; bearing their judgment and accepting the deserved wrath of IAUE upon their life.

2 Corinthians 5:14  For the love of Messiah constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

With the same confidence that Ben could tell the soldiers, “You cannot conscript me, for I already died in service to your army,” we can say to the enemies of our soul, “I am no longer subject to you, for I am dead.”  Of course, as long as Ben does not know that Jack has died, Ben still thinks he is alive.  He can only realize and experience the consequences of being “dead” when he learns that Jack has died. In the same way, no man can experience deliverance from sin and all of its consequences until they know and embrace the fact that Messiah died and that they died in Him.

In this verse, Paul says, “For the love of Messiah constrains us” (The love of Messiah, as it had been demonstrated by his death for him, had become the overwhelming influence upon Paul’s life.)  However, Messiah’s love only constrained him BECAUSE he judged with certainty and with finality that in Messiah’s death for all, that included him.

2 Corinthians 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

In the very next sentence, Paul reveals that THIS is the trigger, this is the fundamental principal that releases the treasure within him.  When Jack left in Ben’s name, you may call it a risk, even a gamble; but Ben knew that he could go on living his life as he pleased as long as Jack was alive.  The moment that he learns that Jack died, he knew that HIS LIFE, as he knew it, was over.  In modern terms, it would be like someone using an avatar to represent his life in a computer game, or virtual reality simulation of life.  The moment his avatar dies, he is out of the game.  He cannot go back and start over and resume his life in the game where he left off before he died.  Once his avatar dies in the game, he is dead.  He is out of the game.

Messiah died for us.  Our name was upon Yahushua when the Father of Creation exacted judgment upon our sin and rebellion.  We were judged.  We were slain.  We died…in Messiah.  The moment we learn of that and rightly discern and judge it to be a fact; we recognize that our life is over.  It is now time for us to offer our bodies a living sacrifice to Messiah (Romans 12:1), for Messiah to be able to live HIS life in our bodies.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Messiah, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Knowing that Messiah being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

Now, here is something that most Christians never really understand; and it is critical to our study of the Transformation of the Soul, which is currently working toward uncovering the revelation of the treasure hidden within our earthen vessels.

IF we died in Messiah, we are FREED FROM SIN.  A dead man can no longer resist or disobey the will of IAUE.

IF we died in Messiah, our name is still upon him who is now risen from the dead.  He is continuing to represent our interests as our substitute and as the mediator between IAUE and man (1 Timothy 2:5). We are STILL in him. Consequently, we are no longer subject to the dominion of death. Nothing of Satan’s world has a hold upon us any longer because Messiah conquered death.  We are now IN the world but not OF the world.

But what does this have to do with the treasure within our earthen vessels?

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Messiah: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Messiah liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of Elohim, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Messiah in Elohim.
When Messiah, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

IF any man be IN MESSIAH, he is a NEW CREATURE (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The new creature, the treasure hidden within or earthen vessels, the “new man” is the spirit of the resurrected Yahushua Messiah.  It isn’t a new US.  It is a new HIM.  If we died in Him, we are dead.  He is the one who has been raised from the dead; we have not.  He is resurrected NOW.  We will be resurrected in a day yet to come.

Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

We died in Messiah in order to release us from the “old man,” the sinful nature which is a part of our natural birth in the flesh; thus releasing us from bondage to sin.  We are freed through death to sin no more. The old man is dead and buried with Messiah.  Messiah rose from the dead, free from sin, free from death, free from Satan, free from the curse of the Law, free every entanglement that makes man a slave to sin. We SHALL be resurrected unto the same manner of man as Yahushua is now; but until then, our being reckoned dead in Messiah is what releases the treasure of HIS resurrected spirit within us.

2 Corinthians 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Master Yahushua, that the life also of Yahushua might be made manifest in our body.

In the weeks to come we are going to examine what it means that the exceeding great and glorious treasure that is the spirit of the resurrected, glorified, perfect son of IAUE, possessor of all authority and all power both in heaven and in earth is not only living within us; it is he, not us, that is now the spirit that animates our body and sustains our physical life.

Kingdom heart: a heart that offers no resistance to the performance of the will of IAUE.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – XII

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – XII

2 Corinthians 4:6 For Elohim, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Elohim in the face of Yahushua Messiah.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of IAUE, and not of us.

Messiah Yahushua came as the last Adam to be a quickening spirit…a life-giving spirit.  Messiah restores life to the spirit of man in order to redeem man’s soul. So, you see, Father IAUE is looking for a soul that loves Him and does all His good pleasure.  He is not looking for newborn spirits.  That is not His objective.  His true objective is not possible until the spirit of man is quickened by Messiah.  Then and only then can the soul be transformed.

For many weeks, now, we have been developing an understanding of the configuration of man and of the nature of the release of the life and power of IAUE invested into the newborn spirit of man from the Spirit to the Conscience through the Heart to the Understanding through the Soul and, finally, to and through the Flesh.
We have learned that doing the will of IAUE creates bridges, pathways through which the life and power of IAUE can be released into an outworking in and through our bodies, our flesh; and in the process our souls become transformed into the likeness (righteousness) of IAUE.

Luke 11:28 blessed are they that hear the word of IAUE, and keep it.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

John 8:51 …If a man keep my saying...
John 8:52If a man keep my saying
John 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:23  …If a man love me, he will keep my words
John 15:10  If ye keep my commandments

James 1:22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

For too long, the church has been accumulating “believers” and not “doers” of the Word.  The contemporary Christian church values knowledge of the Scripture to the point that actually doing what we have learned and know to do has lost all value.  Every Sunday morning, hundreds of thousands of church buildings are occupied with millions of people who, if they are genuinely born again, and especially if they are filled/indwelled by the Holy Spirit, conceal from the rest of the world the very power that could proclaim liberty to the captives and change forever the lives of the population around them. After the Sunday morning services are over, these millions of “believers” go back to their own lives and think nothing of doing the will of IAUE or of meeting the needs of the people around them.  Why is this?  It is because they have never been taught about the release of the spirit; and even more so, they have never been taught what is inside of them that can be released.  Oh, they have it doctrinally, but it is not revelation knowledge to them.  They know it academically, but not experientially.

Let’s imagine, for illustration’s sake, that you bought a house, and you have been living in the house for many years.  Then, one day, you meet an elderly man who tells you a story.  He tells you that he personally knew the man who built the house and lived in the house long before you were ever even born.  He just happened to know that the man who built the house and first lived there was a miser who made a lot of money, and he invested a lot of his money in gold and silver and precious jewels and he hid his treasure away behind the wall in the master bathroom, behind where the sink is located; and that the miserly old man passed away having never told anyone else about his hidden treasure.

What would you do?  You would go straight to your master bathroom and begin to tear down that wall to find the hidden treasure.  Why would you do this?  It is because gold and silver and precious jewels are deemed to be valuable to you.  They would have the ability to change your lifestyle.  They could change your life.  Having such a treasure would have the power to alter your life in ways that you value. It would not be long before your friends and neighbors and extended family members could see the impact of that treasure upon your life.  A new car...maybe to new cars…maybe a boat, new clothes, your children going to private schools.  Who knows?  If the treasure were great enough, you would quit your job, buy a bigger house in an exclusive neighborhood, join the country club, etc.  Or, maybe if you were so inclined, your family member’s debts might be paid for them, your neighbors’ hospital bills taken care of, donations might be made to homeless shelters or adoption agencies. One way or another, people would be able to SEE that your life has been changed by the treasure you uncovered.

Would you break down the wall in your house if someone told you that they knew a prior owner had hid several bags of marbles and a bag of rocks they collected to commemorate all the places they have visited through their lifetime?  These may have been treasures in the mind of the prior owner, but not to you; so why bother tearing down the wall?  They are just fine left alone where they are.

Well, we have a treasure hidden inside of us; and it remains hidden only for one of two reasons.  One, it is because we do not know it is there; or, two, we know it is there, but we do not value it (or we regard the cost of uncovering it to be more costly than the value of the treasure).  So we have this treasure in earthen vessels, but no one can tell we have it, because we have done nothing to uncover it.  We don’t consider that it will change or impact our lives in a way that is materially better than the life we are currently living; so why pay the price to get at it?  This kind of thinking betrays our lack of repentance; or it demonstrates that our faith in Messiah has been replaced with confidence in having been born again to secure our eternal destination.  Any mindset that is not hungry for the fullness of what IAUE has placed within us, and desirous of doing His will at all times with all the tools He places at our disposal is evidence of our not even being in Messiah.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Next week, for the first time in this series, we will examine this treasure we have in our earthen vessels and discover what it really is.  Then we may decide that it actually is of great value to us; and the impact and change that it will bring to our lives might just have far greater and more desirable impact than gold, silver and precious jewels.  Maybe then, we will find ourselves paying whatever the cost to break down any walls or obstructions or interference that might separate us from it.

Kingdom heart: a heart that offers no resistance to the performance of the will of IAUE.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – XI

WBS.174
FUNDAMENTALS OF DISCIPLESHIP

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – XI

Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

We are but a choice away from the fruits of righteousness filling our souls.

Today, I want to discuss a critical point in Scripture, the ignorance of which almost assuredly shares a major responsibility for the ineffectiveness of the Church, today.

During the life of this blog, we have many times discussed the fact that a false gospel has almost completely replaced the true gospel throughout the world (Confess that you believe Jesus died to forgive you of your sins, then pray a magic prayer that eternally secures your heavenly destination.).

We have discussed that the church has forsaken the gospel of the Kingdom (Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.), such that repentance is now believed to be simply praying the “magic prayer” (Jesus, forgive me of my sins and come into my heart.  I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Amen.).

We have even explained that “salvation” isn’t being born again; but rather it is deliverance from our enemies that have prevented us from doing the will of IAUE (See Luke 1:67-79). It is the provision IAUE made through His Son, Yahushua Messiah, our Master, to restore us to our creative design: to do the will of IAUE and grow up into His likeness (righteousness) The new birth is merely the equipping of the believer to do the will of IAUE.  It is in doing the will of IAUE that salvation is realized in the life of the believer.  It is as James explained in James 2:17-18, faith without works is dead.  Belief without corresponding actions is merely a philosophy or culture that one embraces. True faith, living faith, cannot help but be manifested by the way we live; and by the things we do.

It is this word “salvation” that has caused so many problems for the church of Yahushua.  It is a word thrown around recklessly and with little regard for its true meaning.  We hear Christians asking people, “Are you saved?”  The Christian likely isn’t even saved; so how can he expect the unbelieving one even to know what he is asking?  Christians will say, “I was saved on June 12, 1992.”  In truth, one can point to a date and time and say that is when they were born again; but what date and time can they point to that they began doing the will of IAUE; and demonstrated by their works that they indeed were delivered from the oppressor of their soul?

The church points to the born-again spirit as salvation.  ALL spirits are given by IAUE, and unto IAUE all spirits will return; whether they are the spirits that animated believers or animated the unbelievers.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto Elohim who gave it.

Even though we are born again, it is not our spirit that thinks for us.  It is not our spirit that feels for us.  It is not our spirit that makes decisions for our life.  It is not our spirit that forms our opinions and convictions.  We have discussed thoroughly over weeks past that IAUE desires the life and power in our newborn spirit to be released through our heart and soul to expression in our bodies. Only then do we manifest the Kingom of Heaven upon the earth as we demonstrate the Master’s reign through our own obedience to his authority.  That life and power is communicated first to the conscience of man; but who is responsible for the integrity and transparency of, or the impairment of, or the seering of our conscience?  It is our soul.

Once the conscience has received the life and power within the spirit, it must pass through the heart; but who is responsible for the clarity of or the hardness of the heart?  It is not the spirit.  It is the soul.  Then, once passed through the heart and received by the understanding there is still another step.  Just because we now understand the will of IAUE, and understand that His will comes with the power to do it, who chooses to do it?  It is not the spirit.  It is the soul.

Once we begin to analyze this process, we see that experiencing the reality of our “salvation” is completely dependent upon the soul of man.  The will of IAUE comes complete with the power of IAUE; and our mind can still choose not to obey.  Our emotions can communicate, “I don’t feel like doing that.” Our will can figuratively and quite literally put our foot down and say, “No!  I am not going to do that.”  It only takes one element of the soul to disobey the will of IAUE; despite our newborn spirit’s complete desire to do His will.

What the church has failed to recognize is that salvation is not the salvation of the spirit of man, but it is the salvation of the soul of man.  Remember in the Garden of Eden, when IAUE formed man of the dust of the earth, though his body was made in IAUE’s image, man was not alive and had no identity.  While IAUE’s breath was still in His mouth, man had no life or identify; but once IAUE breathed into his nostrils and animated his flesh, MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL.  It is the soul than sins that must surely die; and it is the soul of man that IAUE sent His Son to save.  It is the soul of man that was created with the ability to mature into the likeness of IAUE’s character and nature; and it is the soul of man that IAUE desires to restore unto His likeness.

James 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

James refers to brothers in the faith of Messiah, those who are born again, that begin to walk in error and sin.  When we turn that brother from the error of his way, we rescue his soul from death.

Mark 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life (soul) shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life (soul) for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

The “magic prayer” gospel does not enjoin the convert to lose his soul in this life…to sacrifice his rights to live his own life to take up a life of obedience to Messiah.  We spent months discussing the renewing of the mind.  Paul instructed the believer in Romans 12:1-2 to offer his body as a living sacrifice as a reasonable service of worship to IAUE.  It is expected of us.  Once we offer our bodies as a sacrifice to IAUE, what does the soul of man have left to control?  What exercise of personal dominion is left to it; for it is only through the body that the soul of man is manifested.  If our bodies are no longer our own, then the focus of the soul can no longer be toward the body.  It must be toward the spirit.  We cease to be carnally minded, and are become spiritually mind.  Where else can we go if our bodies are no longer our own?  Offering our bodies as a living sacrifice minimizes the realm of authorities in our life from two (ours and His), to just His. (“Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done…”)

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

How do you suppose someone is able to destroy the soul in hell?  All it takes is to cause one to refuse to lay down one’s soul in this life; to maintain the illusion that we still have the authority to make the decisions in and for our life.  The Scripture says that “bad company corrupts good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)  We have just read in James 5 (above) that a believer who has erred from the truth and fallen into a pattern of sinful behavior is in fear of losing his soul. The enemy of our soul constantly moves others to try to tear down the manifestation of IAUE’s righteousness in the life of believers, to cause disciples to make compromises, to make wrong choices, to lie, then to lie to cover up the lie, etc.  He uses friends, family, co-workers, peer pressure, whatever is at his disposal to distract us from being spiritually minded.  He seeks out any root of pride, then caters to it.  Yes, there are those who have the ability to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love IAUE thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Notice in this verse that IAUE does not command us to love Him with our spirit.  That is because we do not control our spirit.  We do not think with our spirit, love with our spirit, feel with our spirit, make choices with our spirit.  No, IAUE does not ask us to love Him with our spirit; but He does command us to love him with what CAN make that choice.

Consider what it looks like to IAUE to have slaughtered His son to rescue us unto Himself and to redeem us unto our creative design/purpose, only for us to accept His son’s sacrifice and then to keep our souls nasty, stinky, full of pride, full of self, full of self-will.  It is an insult to His grace and to His love.

Philippians 2:9 Wherefore IAUE also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Yahushua every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Yahushua Messiah is Master, to the glory of Elohim the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is Elohim which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of Elohim, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Messiah, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

IAUE exalted His son so every knee SHOULD bow; and every tongue SHOULD confess; but that is not forced upon man.  Man chooses with his soul, to bow and confess.  Paul instructed the Philippians to work out their own salvation; which is defined by the next verse.  IAUE is there to enable us both to want to do His will and also to do His will.

Ephesians 4:24  And that ye put on the new man, which after IAUE is created in righteousness and true holiness.

All the raw materials are there in the new man; but just lying there dormant does not benefit the soul.  We must PUT ON the new man. The new man is like a new suit.  We must wear it, otherwise it remains in the closet, unused, unworn.

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Adam was made a living soul.  When Adam sired children, they, too, became living souls; but they, like as Adam had become, were corrupted souls because Adam’s spirit had died…had become separated from IAUE, no longer having His life and light and power in it.  His children were born separated from IAUE, and their children, and their children’s children on down to you and me.

Kingdom heart: a heart that offers no resistance to the performance of the will of IAUE.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – X

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOUL – X

John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

In your study or reading of the Scriptures this week, look for things the Scripture declares that Messiah is made unto us, things that IAUE says are true of us, things that He has provided to and for us; and things that are prayed in the Scriptures for believers.  Personalize them and speak them back to IAUE.  By this time next week, you will have undergone more transformation of the soul.

Last week we began our study observing how IAUE arranged for the souls of his people to be saturated with His words.  They were to teach them to their children and talk of them when they arose in the morning, when they went along their way and when they sat in their house, and when they went to bed at night.  They wore His words on their hand and hung them upon their doorposts.  There was no time or place where they were not in constant reminder of the words of IAUE.

Also, when Joshua led the Hebrews into their promised land, they were instructed to eradicate the land of every man, woman and child of the pagan nations that occupied the land that IAUE had given to His people.  Why?  It was to sterilize the land of the social orders that violated the will of IAUE.  These nations were polytheistic (worshipped many gods) and practiced all manner of debauchery and wickedness.  IAUE did not want His people even to have the opportunity to learn how to think like them…to experience their waywardness in mind or experience.  He protected His people so they would BELIEVE in Him and in His words.

Today, the church, for the most part, is filled with people that do not discuss the scriptures when they wake up, walk out of their houses, sit in their houses, or lie down at night.  They rarely read the Bible, and when they do, they call it their “quiet time” which usually takes about 5-10 minutes; and that often is reading a verse or two of Scripture and a couple of paragraphs of commentary in some devotional booklet.  Spending these few minutes in devotional thought makes them feel like they are pretty spiritual and living the Christian life better than most. The rest of their day is filled with the cares of this world, yearning for things this world offers, longing for a better lifestyle, filling their ears with worldly music, worldly news, television, and virtually no conversation about the words of IAUE.

In the beginning, Satan was successful at overthrowing mankind’s mind with witchcraft, sorcery, idolatry and sexual perversion.  They fell for it hook, line and sinker.  They wanted to know the very depths of experience that was available to them.  Today, he accomplishes the same level of overthrow of the minds of the people of IAUE with comforts, food, conveniences, and entertainment, entertainment and entertainment…anything to occupy the minds of the saints to keep them from meditating on the words of IAUE, and making them feel quite satisfied with their quiet time.  It is little wonder that the church has nothing to offer the world around them.  They ARE the world around them.

When I was a young boy being raised in the Baptist church, for many years I assimilated the “church” experience, thinking this is all there was to being a Christian: attending church and its related meetings, and incorporating its culture into my day to day living; but then…I was born again.  I began to actually read the Scriptures.  I was hungry for all that I had been missing all those years in church.  In my reading, I came upon our opening text.  In particular, verse 12.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

This verse launched a period of great dissatisfaction within my soul.  Week after week, I sat in church and wondered what happened between Yahushua speaking these words and the contemporary Christian experience. In my spirit, these words rang true to me; but did he actually mean what he said?  Even asking myself that question seemed pretty stupid to me.  He began the verse with “Verily, verily,” or in today’s speech, “I am telling you the truth.  This is the truth.”

For two years, I sought the answer as to why this verse seemed to be ignored by the church.  It was as if it were simply too good to be true.  I asked preachers about this verse and they tip-toed around a literal interpretation.  They said that leading someone to Messiah was the greater work to which the verse referred; but that did not ring true since Messiah himself said that if he be lifted up he would draw all men unto himself; nor did it answer the question about doing the same works Messiah did.  Why overlook that to speak only to the greater works?  Messiah said we would do both. The church simply did not believe Messiah’s words.  It did not matter that Messiah said he only spoke the words his Father gave him to speak; so these were the words of IAUE.

After two years of this angst and pursuit of the truth of these words, I was brought to a place where IAUE filled me with his Holy Spirit, and the power spoken of in Acts 1 became my personal experience.  In the following months, I experienced all nine gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12.  I began to experience the supernatural that was intended to be the normal experience of a disciple. I began to do the works Messiah did. I didn’t get to that place by sitting quietly in a pew each Sunday, because if I limited myself to that, I would still be warming a pew on Sunday mornings.  I had to renew my mind.  I had to change what I was listening to, change what I was reading, and change my associations with people.

If we are born of the Spirit of IAUE, the Kingdom of Heaven literally FILLS our spirit.  There is a wondrous world of glory, virtue, truth and power residing within us; however, as long as we allow the world around us to captivate our minds, teaching us its ways and expectations, we remain far from the release of the spirit; because our minds will believe the world more than we believe the words of IAUE, just like we have refused to believe John 14:12.  The Kingdom of Heaven is bigger than our heads.  Its greatness within us is so far beyond what the world will allow us to believe.  We must reject the world as our teacher. We must regard all of the world’s lessons as lies in any area where it contradicts what IAUE has said.

We will never become proper emissaries of the Kingdom of Heaven that is within us until our minds eradicate the wicked input of every man, woman and child who does not serve the Master Yahushua; and as long as our souls do not recognize and attribute the wickedness to it that it merits, we will still cater to it.  There is a way that seems right to a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death.  IAUE has given us His words and His Spirit to fill us and transform our souls to embrace the righteousness, peace and joy of His Kingdom.

The transformation of the soul into the likeness of IAUE, for most believers is not even an objective.  For the 2% who will not be satisfied with less, with just living the Christian culture, there must be a dedicated pursuit of the words of IAUE, turning a deaf ear to all that the world would speak to us.  This will require commitment and discipline.  We are but a choice away from the fruits of righteousness filling our souls.

Kingdom heart: a heart that offers no resistance to the performance of the will of IAUE.
